Sam Darnold out indefinitely with Mono

Monday's match is beginning to stretch harsh in the aircraft schedule. After Cleveland, the planes will fly to Foxboro, Massachusetts, to meet the Patriots in the third week, followed by a week bye. They will then play in the Philadelphia Eagles before returning to local games against the Dallas Cowboys and Patriots.

FLORHAM PARK, NJ - A new coach, marquee running and second quarter quarterback brought renewed hope to the aircraft this season. But one week later, that optimism quickly dwindled.

LONDON (Reuters) - Sam Darnold has white blood cells and will not play on Monday evening against Cleveland Browns (0-1), coach Adam Gas said on Thursday. There is no timetable for his return.

Darnold originally had a diagnosis of a strep throat Tuesday night, but other tests revealed he had mono. Trevor Simian, who signed a one-year contract with Jets in March, will start on Monday evening.

"Any time you lose a quarterback, this is a big problem," said Doyle Logins, the team's coordinator and full back. "He's the next man's mentality. Trevor was here off the whole season. We're excited about him."

Siemian, 27, has not played in the regular season NFL game since December 14, 2017. He is 13 to 11 with 30 touchdowns and 24 interceptions at the beginning of his 24-year career, all with Denver Broncos.

"I was there and did it a little," Siemian said. "It's been a long time. So, as I said, I chomp to compete and get out there with the players. I feel comfortable."
