Zidane threatens to sack Real Madrid after defeat in Paris
Real Madrid coach Zinedine Zidane's future is in doubt following a 3-0 defeat by Paris St Germain in the first round of the Champions League.
Real went into the Princes Park after scoring eight points from four league games, but Los Blancos were not as convincing in terms of performance as they had in previous games.
Zidane has received the funds to bring in many of the top players during the summer transfer window, but The Independent reports that the Frenchman is now under a lot of pressure, which could limit the dismissal.
The report, published in major British newspapers, claims that a number of players have described the current form of Real Madrid as a behind-the-scenes failure, as well as the lack of a strategy to compete for titles like before.
Former Real Madrid coach Jose Mourinho is still the most likely candidate to take over from Zinedine Zidane, almost a year after leaving Manchester United.
However, a number of close associates of Real Madrid president Florentino Perez suggest that they are looking to keep the team from re-appointing the Portuguese coach, because of the crisis he could cause if he returns.
